Percy Jackson Sets Sail For a Perilous Season 2

Disney+'s adaptation of the Rick Riordan books will return in 2025, and it's taking Percy and friends to the Bermuda Triangle.

The first season of Percy Jackson & the Olympians was a pretty well-liked (and well-watched) hit for Disney+ when it premiered last year, and did its job in giving fans the adaptation of the books they’d always wanted. Season two is currently in production, and from the teaser at last night’s D23 panel, Disney’s all-in on adapting Rick Riordan’s kids book franchise.

While the trailer mainly functions as recap of the first season, there’s a brief tease for what’s to come. Like in the 2006 book Sea of Monsters, Percy (Walker Scobell) will participate in a chariot race at Camp Half-Blood that serves as an early set piece. Season two picks up a year later and sees the son of Poseidon embark on another quest involving the Greek gods. This time, he and Annabeth (Leah Sava Jeffries) are tasked with finding the Golden Fleece to save the Camp from Kronos and his army. Joining the pair are Tyson, a Cyclops and half-brotheer of Percy played by Daniel Deimer, and Dior Goodjohn’s Clarisse, the daughter of Ares that’s been separately tasked with recovering the Fleece. Their adventure will eventually takes them to the Sea of Monsters, aka the Bermuda Triangle.

Sea of Monsters was previously adapted by Fox back in 2013, and it was the last movie in the short-lived series. Riordan and company clearly want this show to go much further than those films, and with his involvement, this’ll be considerably more accurate to the books. As far as what else to expect from the season, the cast teased moments from the book like Grover being fitted for a wedding dress and more romance between Percy and Annabeth.

Expect Percy Jackson to return for season two sometime in 2025 for Disney+.
